Sand in your toes. Laptop at the ready. The irresistible mix of business and pleasure in an exotic location is a big draw for many association groups seeking a sunny meeting destination outside of the continental United States.

And thanks to quick and inexpensive travel options, excellent meeting facilities and picturesque settings, resort areas in Mexico and the Caribbean islands continue to be preferred choices. “The American Bar Association chose Los Cabos because we wanted an affordable destination that was both high-end and beautiful,” explained Yolanda Muhammad, the association’s director of forums. Her group is just one of many heading to a tropical local for events. According to Greta Andzenge of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association, meeting attendees represent about 25 percent of the visitors for many Caribbean destinations.
