St. Lou is…Back

St. Louis is a place where history and magic collide, and the result is a destination like no other. In the heart of a revitalized downtown, a vibrant new hospitality district continues to grow. With some of the finest hotels, restaurants, museums and entertainment venues you’ll find, St. Louis is truly a great choice for your next meeting or event.

Why You Should Consider St. Louis

Centrally located in America’s heartland, St. Louis is an easy drive or quick flight away. St. Louis provides meeting attendees a delightful experience (hotels, restaurants, attractions and entertainment) without all the hassle and expense they’ll find in one of those overpriced convention destinations. During their downtime, St. Louis will keep your delegates entertained with world-class sports, theatre, live music and more that are all within reach.

City Arch River

St. Louis is creating its future and legacy through a $380 million CityArchRiver project that is transforming the national park surrounding the Gateway Arch and creating a new place to gather and celebrate in the heart of downtown. The improvements will provide unique and memorable event spaces throughout the grounds and the museum under the Arch.

Designed by world-renowned landscape architecture firm Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, the project is scheduled to finalize in 2017. When the project is complete, a new park built over the lanes of Interstate 70 will connect the Arch grounds directly to downtown St. Louis’ central business district. The new park will provide a pleasant and safe green space for pedestrians walking to the monument from the historic Old Courthouse, downtown hotels and the America’s Center Convention Complex.

The park site will increase with 11 new acres, a renovated historic Old Courthouse and an expanded Museum of Westward Expansion. The museum will explore America’s western journey and the important role St. Louis and its people played in the growth of the United States.

New event space beneath the Arch will give groups an opportunity to use the museum as an off-site venue for events and performances.  Guests can ride the elevators to the top of the nation’s tallest man-made monument for 30-mile views of St. Louis and the Mississippi River. Outside on the Arch’s park grounds more than five miles of new paths are under development along with additional green space and pedestrian and bike-friendly lanes to encourage activity in the park and along the Mississippi River.

National Blues Museum

Opening in April 2016, the National Blues Museum will feature innovative, interactive and technological exhibits. The Museum explores and preserves the historic significance of the Blues as the foundation of American music, celebrates the genre’s various styles, and recognizes the musicians who created, sustain and advance the art form.

The 23,000-square foot facility will include multifunctional space for performances and events to accommodate anywhere from 15 to 450 guests. Granting visitors blues music education, programming and opportunities to create blues music in a mixing booth.  Notable musicians that became legendary names in the entertainment industry are to be featured in the museum. The museum will cover the powerful role and influence of blues musicians and the blues genre as the foundation of American music.

The blues transformed America and St. Louis is an excellent city for the National Blues Museum as it is centrally located between just hours Memphis and Chicago in America’s heartland. St. Louis is an integral part of long history of the music that helped shaped our nation and telling the stories of pain, sorrow and life. Blues music has the ability to convey raw, genuine emotion and transform it into a visceral and cathartic experience, giving meaning and substance to every other type of music that has derived from it.
