The Peoria (Illinois) Convention & Visitors Bureau has appointed Rick Edwards acting CEO after the resignation of president and CEO Brent Lonteen, who led the Peoria bureau for the past three years. Edwards is the bureau’s chairman and also works for Caterpillar Inc.
Tamara Pigott has been named interim executive director of the Lee County (Florida) Visitor & Convention Bureau following the resignation of Executive Director Suya Davenport. Davenport, who served at the bureau for two and a half years, cited a desire to return to the private sector to work with hotels. A search for her permanent successor is under way.
Bethany Stephens has resigned from her position as executive vice-president of the Rogers-Lowell Area (Arkansas) Chamber of Commerce. She now serves as executive director of the Ozark Natural Science Center in Huntsville, Arkansas.
Tracy Panton has stepped down as director of tourism for the Belize Tourism Board. Panton had worked for the organization for the last 12 years. Her successor has yet to be named.
Seattle’s Convention & Visitors Bureau has promoted Jerri Lane to senior vice-president of sales and marketing. Lane was previously the bureau’s vice-president of convention sales. Her background also includes time serving as director of sales and marketing for the Westin/Seattle and the Sheraton/Seattle.
David West has been named vice-president of marketing and sales at the Pocono Mountains (Pennsylvania) Visitors Bureau. West served previously as marketing director of the Bucks County Conference & Visitors Bureau, also in Pennsylvania. He succeeds Gail Sterrett, who passed away unexpectedly last year.
Monica Robinson has been named director of diversity sales at the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau in Arkansas. Robinson served most recently as director of event services for the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis. She has also held positions in sales and marketing at the Renaissance Grand and Ritz-Carlton hotels in St. Louis.
The Utah Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau has promoted Julia Currey from sales manager to senior sales manager for corporate, association and group-tour business. Prior to joining the bureau, Currey served as the events director for the Provo/Orem Chamber of Commerce (now the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce).
The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau has named Marti Tejada as convention sales manager. Her sales background includes positions with the Sheraton Bal Harbour Beach Resort in Bal Harbour, Florida, the Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami and the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach.
