The Renaissance Palm Springs has completed an extensive renovation. Formerly a Wyndham, the renovations included a new lobby, room and hotel décor, pool area, and restaurant and bar area. The 410-room hotel, which is connected to the Palm Springs Convention Center, provides 30,000 square feet of indoor space, including a 12,571-square-foot ballroom and 24,000 square feet of poolside, outdoor event space.

The CoCo Key Hotel & Water Resort has opened in Orlando, Florida. The property features a 392-room hotel and a 54,000-square-foot outdoor water park. For meetings, it offers four breakout rooms as well as a dedicated group check-in area.

The Padre Hotel, a boutique property in Bakersfield, California, has opened after a two-year renovation project. It features 112 guest rooms with high-definition TVs, free Internet access throughout the hotel, five food and beverage venues, a fitness center, meeting space for up to 100 people and reception areas for up to 200. The hotel is located in the historic Padre Building, a downtown landmark that dates from 1928.

Following a $30 million renovation, the Baptist Temple at Temple University in Philadelphia has reopened as a meeting and performance venue. The 36,000-square-foot building can seat more than 1,300 guests theater-style and offers several flexible meeting spaces including Lew Klein Hall, which is the main stage area, and the Chapel of the Four Chaplains, a reception area. There is also a grand foyer and mezzanine. The building was constructed in 1891 and some of its finer design elements, including stained-glass windows and original woodwork, have been maintained.

Wyndham’s Hotel Galvez & Spa, a historic beachfront hotel in Galveston, Texas, has completed renovations to its second-floor guest rooms in preparation for its 100th anniversary in 2011. (The hotel plans on renovating all of its 224 guest rooms in time for the celebration.) Rooms feature a neutral palette, new carpeting, upgraded furniture and bedding, flat-screen TVs, new window treatments and updated lighting. The property offers more than 13,000 square feet of meeting space.

The Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel & Conference Center, located just east of the international airport in the suburb of Rosemont, has remodeled its 23,500-square foot ballroom, expanded its event space and restyled all 503 guest rooms to meet eco-friendly standards. The ballroom, which features a new sound system and chandeliers among its enhancements, can accommodate up to 3,800 guests and be divided into five separate spaces. Adjacent to the ballroom is 4,000 square feet of new pre-function space for receptions of up to 400. The property now features a total of 55,000 square feet of meeting space.
