ASAE president and CEO john graham reflects on the changing environment for associations on the eve of the group’s annual meeting
In the 13 years since John Graham IV, CAE, took the position of president and CEO of the American Society of Association Executives, the organization—and the world at large—has seen a lot of change. As ASAE prepares for its upcoming annual meeting, which will be held for the first time in Salt Lake City, Graham spoke with Association News Editor Ann Shepphird about how this time of transition is affecting the association management industry and the events associations organize.
Association News: For the past several years, we’ve started this interview talking about how the association community has been faring through the ups and downs of the economy. This year a series of crises—from international and domestic terrorism to the Zika virus—are dominating headlines. How do you feel these times of uncertainty affect associations?
